The Language of Mystery

Author: Edward Robinson

Published: 1987

The theme of this book, as its title suggests, is that the arts have provided mankind with the language in which the mysterium tremendum et fascinans, which (or whom) he has called God, has been explored.

John V Taylor writes “ Large numbers of thinking, sensitive people have lost faith in institutional religion; this does not mean that faith itself has ebbed away. For them the traditional statements of belief and forms of prayer have become dead, but not their sense of transcendence or their capacity for worship”.

Edward Robinson, a distinguished sculptor is Director of the Christian Education Movement’s Centre for the Study of Spirituality and the Arts.
